two months plus of rehearsals,
of much perspiration and tireness,
of much laughters and crap,
of happy and sad.
but all the hard work pays off,
for we managed to pull it off,
on 29th March 2008 night,
we awed the audienced with our might!
Intro item - a sweet little piece,
of summer which came like cinnamon, so sweet.
in white dresses with red roses,
coupled with a few delicate poses,
little girls danced cheerily on the concrete,
hoping to find their dreams.
Nosy Parker - as the title says it,
a relationship saved within 3 minutes!
with the help of the nosy parkers,
who patched the two squabbling couple.
a lousy boyfriend who kept her girlfriend waiting,
and in the end neglected her feeling.
quarreling in the park under broad daylight,
to the nosy parkers, a pitiful sight.
fret not! for nosy parkers have a brilliant plan!
and they saved the day in the end!
Love Games- a sexy and energetic dance,
guys! please dun ever take a chance!
to flirt with other girls on the streets,
not only your girl will shriek!
to know what will be the outcome of the womanizers,
audience, the answers are with the dancers!
And it comes to the end, finally.
the audience cheering, and clapping loudly.
the curtains drop, and so are my tears,
i'm gonna miss u all so much, my dears.
the chance to perform with u all, is indeed an honor,
but we all noe, it's not going to be over!
let's keep our passion burning,
for we'll continue to keep on dancing!
haha...tried to compose a little poem. quite difficult to make it rhyme though. As the saying goes, "all good things will come to an end". i woke up on Monday morning feeling as though what happened on Sunday night was a dream - the most amazing and sweetest dream indeed which i wish i would never had woken up..
i kinda regret what i had told gwen on sunday during the rehearsal. She asked me "this is your last concert. Ur so going to miss dance." And i told her "actually i dun think i will miss cactus as much. maybe after a few weeks after cactus then i will starting to reminisce the times during rehearsals but at this moment, i dun miss cactus. In fact, i had already lost the motivation to dance during the last two weeks."
yeah...it's true. the last jazz class before the week of cactus, i was having project meeting and it ended late such that i was late for class. my discussion had not finished. i am very tempted to skip class. i literally forced myself to go. first time ever i felt this way. usually i will reach class early whenever i can but this time round it's different. To say that i'm stressed, i dun think so. Really more of tired of teaching, leading and planning for rehearsals, everytime think of what to go through first, which part needs to slow down and teach a little slower, cleaning up the steps...well, sometimes i may not be right but i tried my best to teach...It was demoralizing for me towards the end. i guess it's cos i have higher expectations and i really wan to apologize to my dance mates for losing control of my emotions...from the last week onwards, i wasn't looking forward to cactus.really. i was much quiet during rehearsals, dun feel like leading anymore...even on the day of cactus itself...i wasn't sad that this is my last concert. plus all the waiting during the full run that makes me wish tt cactus to be over soon as i wan to get it over and done with. until...
when we're at the curtains dere waiting to go out for our last item, love games, i told them "jiayou. this is our last item!" then samantha turned around and said to me "oh my god, this is ur last item and ur last concert alr..." then dunno what else she said before saying "you have been a great teacher. i remembered when we first learned love games u taught us........" dat's when my tears started rolling...
and then, i came to realize that after all these yrs in jazzttitude, the greatest achievement that i had is not jus improving my dance styling and techniques, not just the cool dance mates and instructor that i had, but most importantly, is to know that i had made an impact on somebody else...
cactus 2009 was a blast. It had been a pretty long journey for me...having gone through 3 concerts. the items were getting better and better every year. i received a lot of good comments for Nosy Parker. I'm so happy we cleared the obstacles we met during rehearsals for this item and manage to make it successful. That's the power of hard work and yearning to succeed. haha!
Thanks for letting me graduate with so many fond memories of jazzttitude!
BUT this is not enough...i hope to do a guest item under Jazzttitude Alumni next yr!
