24th Dec:
while the city is still deep in slumber, the Chilli Padi warriors(including myself, haha) were alr at the factory at 3am cooking and packing for the buffet orders. This yr the company broke record for having the most orders ever in 10 yrs. Partly also due to the double of the amt of orders, afraid of not being able to cope with delivery, aunt also double up the number of drivers and vans. i thought i will work in the office to listen to phone calls or get ready to standby shld they missed out certain items and need me to send. haha. but the day before aunt ask me to help out in production side. i have to reach the factory at 6am. Woke at 4.15am, went to Mac to have breakfast) then i thought first bus operates at 5.15am and so i will be on time. But when i reach the interchange at 5.10 i saw on the board the first bus will only start at 5.45. Dun wan to take cab also since its damn ex now to take cab so i called my dad to drive me there. My uncle had asked him to help deliver buffet for that day too. hahaha...but he only need to reach like 9am. so after he sent me there he slept in his car in the carpark. heehee~ when i reach there the kitchen alr had a lot of pple. It's really like a bustling market, the sound of the gas stove, the clinking and clanking when the chefs cook, the shouting "oei! Ayam buakualak 好了没有?", 什么东西都还没有好,等以下一定cock up." But for the morning orders the production and delivery went pretty smoothly. Aunt gt a lot of helpers frm the outlets which are not opened on dat day to come and help at the kitchen and to assist the drivers. then after all the food are packed, sorted according to orders and ready for collection by the drivers, me, aunt, Stephanie and 2 other china workers went to assist one driver to setup a 230pax buffet. After dat we went bck to the kitchen to start the routine over again for the evening orders. Evening orders more cock-ups though. We all stopped work at 6pm. I work 12 hrs. By noon i alr a bit buay tahan. But i really admire my aunt and her grp of workers. My aunt herself started work at 12.30am!!! the chefs at 3am!!!
25th:
aunt told me and stephanie to help out at the production side again on xmas itself. today i have to reach the factory at 7am. Woke at 4.45, eat Mac again(yes the only eating place whh is opened so early) then i went to wait for the bus. this time i take the other bus, not at the interchange. waited for 45 mins!!! the bus still haven come. again i phone my dad. today he dun need to send buffet though. poor dad. i always seem to trouble him. haha. but i also want to save taxifare for the company mah.lol~ but for today it's not as hectic as eve itself as there's much lesser orders. We worked at a smooth pace. went home at 4.30. in the afternoon me and stephanie even gt time to decorate the office. a bit too late but since they bought the stuff le jus decorate lor.
26th:
after 2 days of bustling activities i was damn tired. resume normal office hrs but i kept yawning and yawning in office.
so pple, be prepared to work irregular hrs if u wan to go into the f&b industry.
but i must say my aunt has a great bunch or workers =)
